Matthew Hartman, a native of Northern Indiana, is a 2001 graduate of Valparaiso University and brings 7 years experience as an operational forecaster to the ILCHASE organization. His experience in forecasting comes from the private industry, where he provided weather forecasts and real-time information to various state Departments of Transportation for year-round road maintenance. He also forecasted and provided real-time weather information in support of State 511 Road Weather systems, which provide weather and road conditions to the general public.
Matthew also brings to ILCHASE over 15 years of experience in numerical weather prediction, radar and satellite interpretation, and surface and upper-air observation. In addition, he’s been formally Skywarn trained and has been spotting and chasing severe weather, including adverse winter weather and summer convective storms, for 18 years.
His other interests include photography, music, technology, and social media.
